Laundry Love Launch
As a community of faith interested in caring for those in our community that are marginalized, disenfranchised, and dispossessed, we recently launched a Laundry Love Project in downtown Phoenix. Laundry Love Project is an initiative of JustOne, a organization pioneering initiatives focused on caring those in poverty, orphaned, and human trafficked.
One Thursday in June, a small group of us invited the working poor an the homeless of our local community to have their clothes washed for free. In partnership with a local laundromat located near a large low-income housing project in downtown Phoenix, we fed quarters into washing machines and provided laundry detergent for 3 hours. Caring for the working poor an those without home in our community provides an simple encourgement to those we serve, allows us to learn from their stories, and to build friendships.
We expect that as we do this as a monthly rhythm and as we launch additional LLP’s in neighboring communities, the word will get out and we will be able to help hundreds of familes each month by relieving a bit of a finacial burden in their lives. We pray that as we have opportunity to care for more and more familes, we’ll have the opportunity to expose them to the love of God through compassionate action and valuing of their humanity.
